San Ramon, Calif. - May 25, 2021 – Rootstock Software, a worldwide provider of cloud ERP, is delighted to help Climate Vault, a new non-profit whose unique approach uses government-regulated markets to significantly reduce CO2 emissions, one of the leading causes of climate change, while also supporting the innovation in carbon removal technologies designed to eliminate historical CO2. Climate Vault worked with Rootstock to reduce their carbon footprint by purchasing permits on government-regulated compliance markets and “vaulting” them to prevent polluters from using them. Additionally, Climate Vault will provide grants that spur carbon removal innovation to help make these much-needed technologies viable and cost effective.
“We are proud to support Climate Vault, whose solution was a key part of our commitment to reducing our carbon emissions,” says Pat Garrehy, Rootstock Software CEO. “Their unique approach provided the transparency and immediacy we were looking for to make an impact now.”
“We are thrilled to have Rootstock Software as a supporter of Climate Vault to help reduce carbon emissions and jumpstart the innovation that our children and the planet need,” said Prof. Michael Greenstone, Co-founder of Climate Vault and Milton Friedman Distinguished Service Professor in Economics at the University of Chicago. “Thanks to Rootstock and our supporters, we’ve initially reduced more than 200,000 metric tons of CO2 – and we’re just getting started.”
Supports have enabled Climate Vault to reduce more than 200,000 metric tons of carbon at the non-profit’s official launch, surpassing more than five percent of the total CO2 saved by all Tesla vehicles to date in the US.
To encourage new and tangible carbon removal technologies, Climate Vault convened a Technology Experts Chamber to assess, evaluate, and measure impact. The Chamber is chaired by Former U.S. Secretary of Energy, Ernest Moniz, and includes top minds in CO2 removal, energy and policy.
