Welcome to the Brigham Scully Newsletter.
30 Articles Published in April

Every month, from our clipping service, we get a “report card” on how we’ve done as an agency. Last month, we landed 30 articles for our clients. That’s one more article than we obtained in March. Since we had nine clients on retainer, you do the math. Our April articles reached 1,480,000 readers, which is a pretty substantial number since the typical trade publication goes to approximately 30,000 recipients.

For a totally meaningless statistic, over 50% of our articles appeared in publications headquartered in the Midwest or Southeast. Care to guess where most of the factory automation and security publications are based? Since those two markets presently constitute the majority of our work, it’s to be expected.

When we work on hospitality accounts, the Northeast states reign supreme and our daily newspaper counts go up…as do the circulation figures. It was not unusual for the Ojai Valley Inn or The Alisal Guest Ranch to have an article in the New York Times, Toronto Sun as well as a syndicate hit all in one month, pushing their circulation coverage alone to well over 2 million.

We’ve Accessed the GE Interlogix CASI Account

Based on our efforts for GE Interlogix Video Systems Group, we’ve been awarded the trade media relations program for GE Interlogix Access and Integration Group, also called CASI. Over 75% of Fortune 100 organizations protect their people and property with a GE Interlogix CASI access control management system. This group is located in Boca Raton, Fla.

Since spawning HID and helping it grow to prominence through ’99, we’ve been (unsuccessfully) searching for an access control systems client. With GE Interlogix becoming one of the dominating players in the security market, we’re now thrilled we never got one.

This Month

Tom will be flying to Florida for the GE Interlogix Users Group meeting (Hollywood, Fla.). This will also give him the opportunity to meet in person with our client Kaba Benzing in Miami Lakes. We’ve never met them!

Major articles are being developed for Psion Teklogix (Vancouver, BC), IR Security & Safety (Forestville, Conn.) as well as IR Recognition Systems and Realization Technologies (both in Silicon Valley).
